In math we are starting Unit 5. This unit focuses on counting coins. The kids will learn how to identify coins. They need to know the name and value of a Half Dollar, Quarter, Dime, Nickle, and Penny. They also need to be able to add them up to one dollar. They need to be able to solve story problems with coins in them too.
Here are some fun poems we are learning to help us remember the name and value our coins.

Quarter, Quarter,
Big and bold.

Dime, Dime,

Nickle, Nickle,
Thick and fat.

I know that!
Penny, Penny,
Easily Spent,
Copper brown,
And worth 1 cent.
